We understand service — and the claims journey

At DHGA, we understand the unique challenges veterans face. We specialise in providing independent dental assessments and professional reports to help support your DVA compensation claim.

Our team has the knowledge and experience to prepare strong, high-quality reports that address DVA requirements — reviewing your dental records and medications, and referring you for diagnostic imaging such as OPG x-rays where needed. If required, we’ll also request information from your GP and other health professionals so your claim is as comprehensive as possible.

Eligibility

Could you be eligible?

You may be eligible for a DVA dental liability claim if you suffered an injury or damage to your teeth or jaw during, or as a consequence of, your military service.

FAQ

Questions veterans ask us

Straight answers about DVA dental claims and how we help. Still have a question? We’re happy to talk it through.

Ask us a question

Yes. You may be eligible for a DVA dental liability claim if you suffered an injury or damage to your teeth or jaw during, or as a consequence of, your military service. Whether a claim is accepted depends on the medical evidence linking the condition to your service — which is exactly what our assessments and reports are designed to establish.

Liability is the DVA accepting that your condition is connected to your service — this is what unlocks funded treatment. Compensation (permanent impairment) is a separate assessment of the functional impact of that accepted condition. Liability comes first, and our reports are focused on helping establish that service connection.

Most often because the available evidence describes a dental condition but doesn’t clearly connect it to military service, or doesn’t address the specific criteria the DVA assesses against. A focused, independent report that links your condition to your service is what helps turn this around.

Objective evidence — such as a thorough clinical assessment and an OPG (panoramic) x-ray — significantly strengthens a claim. It provides the clear clinical findings and imaging that a strong report relies on. If imaging is required, we’ll refer you for it.

It’s an independent report written to the evidentiary standard the DVA requires. It sets out the clinical findings and provides a reasoned opinion linking your condition to your service, framed to meet the criteria your claim is assessed against — making the evidence far harder to dismiss.

The DVA treats bruxism itself as a mental-health condition, so treatment for the grinding is managed in that pathway. The dental damage it causes — such as worn, cracked or broken teeth — generally needs to be documented and claimed as a dental condition. This is precisely where our dental assessment adds value.

A Gold Card covers all conditions, including dental, at DVA expense. A White Card covers treatment only for your specific accepted conditions — so dental work is funded once the relevant dental condition has been accepted. We can help you understand what applies to your situation.

Your initial consultation is free, and we manage the DVA dental paperwork for you. We’ll be clear and upfront with you about anything else from the very first conversation.
